ABS (Anti Lock Braking System) operates by preventing the wheels from locking up during braking, thereby maintaining tractive contact with the road surface & allowing the driver to maintain more control over the vehicle. EBS (Electronic Braking System) provides electronic activation of all braking system components & engine brake. EBS also supports trailers & communicates between towing vehicle and trailer using the ISO 11992 protocol. It enhances the precision of braking over conventional braking, shortening the braking distances. EBS still relies on compressed air for braking & only controls the air through valves.
